Middle/High School Addition/Renovation

Davis County School District, Bloomfield, Iowa

Project Overview

Owner Davis County Community School District
Location Bloomfield, Iowa
Delivery Method Construction Management Agency
Description Renovation and addition
Gross Floor Area 8,000 SF

The Davis County Community School District in Bloomfield, Iowa, chose Carl A. Nelson & Company to be its construction management agency for a two-phase project to renovate spaces in the high school and middle school.

Phase I involved remodeling an eight-classroom, open plan space with partitions in the middle school wing into individual classrooms. Due to limited available space, construction of exterior hallways on both sides of the building was required to provide separate entry and exit for each classroom.

Phase II included remodeling existing spaces for locker rooms/changing areas for athletics, as well as renovation of band and choral room at the high school.

Both projects were completed on an extremely tight timeline. Phase I work began with exterior hallway construction in the spring, and interior work during the summer. Phase II was begun and finished during the summer, allowing school personnel to begin their finish work before students returned.
