How We Use Information We Collect

Carl A. Nelson & Company (CANCO) values your trust and respects your privacy.  As such, we are committed to maintaining the confidentiality of our client’s or subcontractor’s information.  Information we collect during an engagement is considered “Confidential” (provided this information is not already available in the public domain) and is only shared with or distributed to entities that are providing client/project specific supporting services to CANCO.  We do not share, sell or distribute information you have designated as “Confidential Information” with any outside third party unless contractually or legally required to do so.

When providing sensitive information to CANCO, we will only utilize this information for the purpose for which you submitted it to us.  Once the information is no longer needed, it will be properly disposed of.  Personal information will not be shared with other parties unless we are contractually or legally required to do so.

During the course of our normal business operations we conduct extensive research and collect data available within the public domain on a variety of subjects including areas which may be related to client business plans, strategies, or objectives.  Information we collect through public domain sources may not be subject to the terms of this privacy policy.  Additional information that is not protected by this policy is information posted in the public domain for the purpose of soliciting subcontractor participation on project bids.

We may use information you submit to enhance your experience with our service offerings. Information provided on client surveys may be used for marketing purposes but only if we receive specific approval from you to do so. We may also use the information you provide for internal purposes.  These purposes include administration of our website, data analytics and compliance with law or legal process and our policies and procedures. 

We may offer visitors various links to third part sites for informational purposes.  These links may change from time to time and are always pre-screened for appropriate content.  However, since links are provided to external entities of which we have no control, we are not responsible for the content or privacy policies of these third party sites.  Use of links and related content is at your sole discretion and responsibility.

Information that We Collect
Personal or Company Information:

For Subcontractor Prequalification or for a client engagement you may choose to provide personal or sensitive company information such as, but not limited to:

  • · Strategic Business Plans, Objectives and/or initiatives
  • · Financial Reports, Vendor References, and Safety Information
  • · Intellectual Property, Patent, Trademark, or Copyright protected work

“Contact Us” link:

If you email us through a contact link on our website, we may ask for information such as your name, phone number, and email address so we can respond to your questions and comments.  You may choose to provide additional information as well, such as your postal address or fax number.



We occasionally may ask our clients to complete a survey.  These surveys help us to serve our clients better.  We do not keep any personal information about you in connection with your participation in the survey unless you specifically agree to provide that information.     


Non Personal Information:

We collect certain aggregate and non personal information when you visit our website.  Aggregate and non personal information does not relate to a single identifiable visitor.  It tells us such things as how many users visited our site, pages accessed and types of services visitors used.  By collecting this information, we learn how to best tailor our website to our visitors.  We may collect this information through “cookie” technology as explained below.

We reserve the right to transfer any information we have about you in the event we sell or transfer all or a portion of our business or assets.  Should such a sale or transfer occur, we will use reasonable efforts to direct the transferee to use personal or company information you have provided through this website or other means discussed in this Privacy Statement in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Statement.


Children’s Privacy
Our website is not directed to children under the age of eighteen and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of eighteen on the website.  If we become aware that we have inadvertently received personal information from a visitor under the age of eighteen on the site, we will delete the information from our records.

We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect against unauthorized disclosure, use, alteration, or destruction of the personal or company information that you provide on this website or other means discussed in this Privacy Statement.
