The Washington County Conservation Education Center is located on the 125-acre Marr Park in Ainsworth, Iowa. The education center was built to enhance the park’s appeal to local residents and travelers, and to cultivate good citizenship by providing programs of public recreation.

The building offers an exhibit hall featuring a 180-gallon aquarium, conference hall, library, laboratory used for educational programs, observation deck, outdoor classroom and conservation board office.

The project’s funding source required construction to be completed within a short time frame. Carl A. Nelson & Company completed this project on time and within budget while achieving the Conservation Board’s vision for the center.

“I have personally worked with contractors over the last 35 years in the construction industry. It was a distinct pleasure working with Carl A. Nelson & Company on the Washington County Conservation Education Center project. It renewed my faith and trust in the integrity of building contractors.”

— Lyle J. Moen, Vice President, Washington County Conservation Board
