Role Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Architect to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in supporting the successful delivery of healthcare, education, and industrial projects by providing architectural expertise in design development, code compliance, construction documents, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate brings both creative and technical skills and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced design-build environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine applicable codes and conduct code studies for projects. Codes to include the ICC family of codes, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, ADA, and Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI).
- Collaborate with design-build project teams including project managers, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors to develop architectural solutions from concept through construction.
- Assist in preparing permit documents and responding to AHJ (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) comments.
- Conduct detailed reviews of drawings and documents to ensure compliance with applicable codes (IBC, NFPA, ADA, FGI Guidelines, etc.), standards, and project requirements.
- Support the project team with pre-construction services, including early design input, feasibility studies, and constructability reviews.
- Review architectural and consultant submittals for accuracy and consistency with design intent and code compliance.
- Use BIM software to create designs and to coordinate others’ designs including clash detection.
- Support the project team during construction with architectural clarifications, RFIs, field observations, and punch lists.
- Stay current with industry trends, construction technologies, and evolving building codes relevant to healthcare, education, and industrial sectors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
- Licensed Architect.
- 10+ years of relevant architectural experience, ideally with exposure to design-build projects with work in industrial, healthcare, education and/or commercial buildings.
- Strong understanding of building codes, including IBC, ADA, FGI, and life safety codes.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Navisworks, Enscape, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with contractors, consultants, and clients.
- Ability to mentor emerging professionals.
- Ability to manage one’s own time and meet deadlines as outlined.
- Experience with permitting processes and working with AHJs.
