Grundy Center CSD awards CMa contract to CANCO

At a meeting Dec. 15, 2021, the Board of Education for the Grundy Center Community School District in northeast Iowa voted to award a construction management agency contract to Carl A. Nelson & Company (CANCO) to lead the district's upcoming elementary and secondary school improvement project.

In November 2021, the district passed a $12.99 million bond, which is expected to fund a construction project of about $10 million. Anticipated project scope includes an addition to the secondary school, as well as some renovation to the elementary building. Construction should begin fall 2022, following pre-construction and bid-letting.

CANCO was selected on a qualifications basis in interviews before the district's facilities committee, which recommended the Burlington-based firm to the School Board. The project will be managed from CANCO's office in Cedar Falls.
