Finance Director

Role Description
Seeking an experienced Finance Director to lead and oversee the financial operations within our organization. The Finance Director will play a pivotal role in driving the company's financial strategy, ensuring the effective management of financial resources, and providing leadership in financial decision-making. In addition to managing the finance function, this individual will be hands-on in performing key financial tasks and ensuring accuracy in day-to-day financial activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, strategic planning, and job costing, as well as a deep understanding of accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee timely and accurate delivery of financial statements, management reporting and job cost analysis for the business including compliance with GAAP
- Responsible for financial planning, analysis and control including leadership of annual budget process, job costing, quarterly forecasting activity and monthly reporting of actual results, ensuring the timeliness and integrity of financial data
- Work with project managers quarterly to prepare the detailed project analysis
- Coordinate preparation of department budgets, monthly/quarterly payroll tax filings and monthly/quarterly/annual sales and use tax filings
- Analyze and update overhead costs, labor billing rates and burden calculations
- Prepare workpapers for annual audits and tax return filings including all supporting documentation and footnotes
- Manage accounting software and databases including annual updates, archive prior year and establish and maintain proper access for company employees
- Ensure all required tax distributions are made for Shareholders and Company including drafting required disclosures
- Oversee multi-state sales and use tax compliance
- Lead, mentor and develop accounting team including provide back-ups for all functions within the team as needed
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationship with banking contacts as well as audit and tax professionals
- Work with President and VP’s on various projects as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 10 years of relevant experience including at least 5 years of cost accounting
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Engages teams at all levels to foster a shared understanding of financial objectives and outcomes
- Experienced in working collaboratively with executive leadership to shape and execute financial strategies
- Skilled at building rapport and communicating effectively with both senior leaders and frontline staff
- Detail-oriented including analyzing and verifying data for accuracy before finalizing tasks and reports
- Self-starter with strong ability to take initiative and drive projects to completion, including managing own workload in addition to managing the team
- Proven ability to drive continuous improvement by bringing forward innovative financial solutions and process enhancements
- Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, to diverse audiences
- Comfortable facilitating cross-functional discussions to align financial goals with company-wide initiatives
- Advanced computer skills in Excel
- Aligned with Company mission and core beliefs
- Prior experience with Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, TimberScan and Crystal Reports software is preferable
