Lead Driver/Heavy Hauler

The Lead Driver / Heavy Hauler position is responsible for the delivery of construction equipment, tools, and supplies (Equipment) to job sites and other locations as needed. They must maintain a Commercial Driver’s License. They are expected to deliver Equipment to job sites in a safe and timely manner. They will work with the Company’s mechanic and third parties to make sure the vehicles being used for delivery are properly maintained. 


Essential Functions:

  • Hauling equipment, tools and material, including permit loads
  • Assist with training Company employees in proper load securement
  • Assist in the inspection and maintenance of yard trucks and trailers
  • Ensure proper licensing of trucks and trailers
  • Collecting information regarding motor fuel tax, assuring proper fuel tax apportionment and accurate filing of International Registration Plan Renewal Mileage Schedule Form

Other Functions:

  • Minor vehicle repairs
  • Welding

Education/Training:

  • Commercial Driver’s License
  • OSHA 10-Hour (within six months of hire)

Experience:

  • 2 years of commercial truck driving experience

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Standard hours of work are Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., minimum 40 hours per week. Hours of Work may fluctuate depending on the needs of the projects.

Travel

Travel to job sites is required. Job site locations are variable.

  • Working knowledge of the Company’s Programs, Policies and Procedures
  • General knowledge of basic vehicle repairs
  • General knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, and their applications and using mathematics to solve problems
  • General knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally or in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience
  • Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
